Melancholost is the brainchild of Sven The Axe of the Heavy Horror Metal legends Solemnity. Whilst working on the reunion album of Solemnity some songs appeared to be different in the writing process. Something  ethereal, magical or ghostly creeped up out of the ether and the sound seemed not to fit to the original Solemnity style. It was dark, doom, gothic, 70´s occult rock or whatever you may call it. Soon it was clear it was floating out of the fingers like an eruption that must have been told, so at this point I decided to write a whole album in a completely different style and with completely new recording practices. I recorded vocals in a small chapel and in an ancient cave on the Swabian alps to catch some ancient spirtits there. In fact all of the recording have a touch of MAGICK I have to admit. I hope you enjoy them as much as I do!
